Established in 2019 in commemoration of Pittsburgh's past food
service pioneers and entrepreneurs, such as: Benjamin Richards, who, by 1788, set-up the first Black Butchery in Downtown Pittsburgh on 3rd avenue (current-Day #1 PPG Plaza); Charles Richards, who,
by 1795, owned the first Black Restaurant & Lodge on Ferry street (present-Day Stanwix Street); Rev. John C. Peck who in 1838 opened the first Oyster House and Ice-cream Parlor on 3rd avenue;
and, John R. Pulpress & Benjamin Pulpress who owned and operated the first Black Fish Stall inside Market Square and at The Allegheny Market House (Northside) on 26th & First Street*, we
began this event to showcase Our historic legacy and the best Soul Food Restaurants in this region.

Festival-A Soulful Taste of the Burgh, will see thousands of visitors from across the Country and throughout Pennsylvania.

through Sunday September 3rd as we highlight over 50 Small Business Vendors and Food Service Proprietors. Get ready for great Southern Cuisine,
multiple ethnic foods vendors, BBQ Contest, Cultural activities, Craft Vendors and Live Entertainment in Downtown Market Square, 11am to 9pm daily.
